Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, en quelques mots
Inspiré par l’univers mis en scène dans les romans de l’écrivain américain Tom Clancy, Rainbow Six: Siege est un jeu de tir à la première personne (FPS pour First Person Shooter), où le joueur voit à travers les yeux de son personnage. Le jeu, sorti en 2015, offre la possibilité au joueur d’incarner un membre des forces spéciales devant combattre des terroristes ou d’autres soldats d’élite dirigés par d’autres joueurs.
Même si le titre inclut une aventure en solo, la plupart des modes de jeux proposent des affrontements en ligne contre d’autres joueurs. Les batailles se déroulent en cinq contre cinq. Très réaliste, le jeu encourage le joueur à élaborer des plans d’attaque ou de défense selon le camp dans lequel il se trouve. Assaillants et défenseurs s’opposent dans des affrontements réalistes pour lesquels il faut avoir, outre de bons réflexes, un sens tactique aiguisé.
Le joueur a à sa disposition un véritable arsenal particulièrement réaliste : armes à feu, armes blanches, explosifs, matériel de surveillance, fils barbelés, mur blindé, etc. À lui d’élaborer les meilleures tactiques afin de repousser ou donner l’assaut. La coopération entre joueurs est primordiale en vue d’élaborer les meilleures stratégies et ainsi espérer l’emporter sur le camp adverse.
Rainbow Six: Siege est aussi un jeu présent sur la scène de l’Esport. De très nombreuses parties et vidéos sont donc disponibles en ligne.

La violence
Jeu d’action réaliste, Rainbow Six: Siege met en scène des affrontements violents. Une violence que l’on retrouve dans la mise en scène et lors de certaines séquences de dialogues.
Réalisme oblige, il n’est pas rare d’être terrassé par un coup unique (tir ou explosion), ce qui crée des parties sous tension. Un stress permanent qui fait le sel de ce titre à part, mais qui ne convient pas à tous les joueurs. Il est indispensable pour les parents de s’assurer que leur enfant est assez mature à cet égard.
Les achats intégrés
Comme de nombreux autres FPS, Rainbow Six: Siege propose de multiples achats à réaliser in-game (« dans le jeu »). Il peut être tentant d’acheter de nouvelles pièces d’équipement qui sont par ailleurs uniquement cosmétiques.
En outre, chaque année, le jeu propose un passe annuel (et dès 2020 un Battle Pass) grâce auquel les joueurs peuvent avoir accès à de nouveaux personnages (opérateurs), de nouvelles cartes, etc. Indispensable pour être à jour. Il est donc essentiel de comptabiliser sur la durée les dépenses faites en cours de jeu (ce dernier étant désormais, dans sa formule de base, quasiment gratuit).
Le mode multijoueur
S’il est possible de jouer seul, la majorité des modes de jeu de Rainbow Six: Siege se compose de parties multijoueurs en ligne. Stratégie oblige, il est conseillé d’être équipé d’un micro-casque et d’échanger avec les autres joueurs connectés. Les échanges entre joueurs pouvant être agressifs, il est toujours préférable de jouer avec des personnes que l’on connaît dans la vie réelle… et de garder un œil et une oreille attentifs aux échanges si des mineurs jouent afin de modérer les propos et les comportements toxiques.
